Meet Dr. McConnell

DR. JOHN W. MCCONNELL, MD, PHD.
 

Anesthesiologist

After graduating with BS and MS degrees from Oklahoma State University, Dr. McConnell earned a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He taught engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington from 1964 to 1974, where he achieved the rank of Associate Professor. Motivated by various experiences to seek a career in medicine, he entered medical school and received his MD in 1978 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  After completing his residency in anesthesiology at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 1981, Dr. McConnell has practiced as an anesthesiologist in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Lancaster, Duncanville, Fort Worth, and Denton, Texas. He has served as Chief of Anesthesiology at Midway Park Medical Center (5 years) and Duncanville Surgery Center (5 years).

 

Recently, Dr. McConnell has made the commitment to center his practices in Office-based IV Sedation Anesthesia, utilizing his experience in over 2000 sedation cases in hospital/surgicenter setting. He uses state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and modern anesthesia drugs to maximize safety and minimize discomfort for patients undergoing office surgical procedures.

 

Dr. McConnell regularly participates in continuing education activities in anesthesiology and is a member of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia.
